Check out my new mask

The extubation went well and Kathryn took to it very well. It will take some adjusting, but I think she will enjoy it a lot more!! (And it's great to see no tube down her throat!!) We didn't get to hear her cry, she is still a little hoarse, but she did sneeze and we heard it. It's very strange to hear sound from her direction.
Please keep the prayers going that she takes well to the new machine and can stay off the ventilator.
The nurses getting Kathryn ready.
Ta -da!!!

What a huge step! Don't get upset if she has to go back and forth a couple of times with the vent and c-pap....she is moving in the right direction. Aiden still has a little line on his nose from the c-pap. One of the few reminders that he was so tiny.

Way to go Kathryn!!! Like the post above said, don't be frustrated if she has to go back and forth. I got so upset when they put Carson back on the vent but then I had to realize what hard work it is to breath and his tiny lungs needed a rest. He too has a line from his C-Pap mask. We called it his scuba mask. But what a wonderful thing it is to be able to hear your baby for the first time. A crying baby never sounded so sweet! We are so happy for Kathryn's success and will keep our fingers crossed for forward movement from here on out!
