Thought you'd all like to see how cold and heartless the man is that wrote the preemie article. He basically told me that he's glad that Kathryn made it given the ridiculous amount of money that the "system" had to spend on her just to keep her alive. I can not even describe how his email response made me feel. See the attached below. Particularly the last few sentences. What a jerk.

"Thanks for the feedback. Sorry the article disappointed you. No matter how heartless it seems, people must and do make decisions about how to allocate health resources. If we spend billions of dollars trying to save babies who have little or no chance of survival, then we taking resources away from other patients who have much better chances of survival. We spend more on medical care than any nation on earth, but still don't have enough. UAB Hospital filled up last week, taking no more patients. The emergency room was swamped, too. Same thing happened at St. Vincent's Hospital. Those are just cold, hard facts, but behind these statistics are emotionally charged stories about people struggling for survival. I certainly am glad that your baby lived, particularly given the amount of money, effort and care that we as a society have expended on your child. I pray that God continues to bless her.

I am speechless. Actually, I have a lot of things I would like to say but I really think he is not worth the time or energy. What a sad pathetic human being.

My jaw dropped after reading that! I am shocked at how heartless he is! He must not have children or a loved one who has needed such wonderful health care!!!

Kelly,
What a shame. Your editorial was very valid and wonderful! I'm a firm believer that everything comes full circle. He may never have a premie, but something will happen and he'll regret those horrible words.

We give praise and glory to God for the miracles of Maddie and Kathryn!!

Sounds to me like this guy needs to check himself in at UAB or St. Vincent's ASAP. Somebody needs to see if this man even has a heart at all.

Wow...

Hey why stop at the babies, what about cancer patients, ppl injured in horrific car accidents, someone who drowned and was under longer than 5 minutes, etc etc... Why "waste" money trying to save them? I bet Lauren Hess would have given another million dollars to have Cooper here with Carson, but it doesn't mean the money spent on Cooper was a "waste". I lost an older sister when I was 4, and I would give any amount of money to have her here, to know her. We never lost hope, we never gave up, we never thought about the $ spent on her - we just loved her. My hope is one day this man gets to at least experience that type of love, then he will realize where the rest of us are coming from.
